Women in Technology and Innovation Africa (WITIA) Led by its Founder and CEO Eunice Pollman in partnership with rotary club Karen will on 26th September host a fundraising dinner to mark the first smart digital library in Kajiado county and the entire region.
The information was delivered by one of its board members Dr. Bella Namango at a high level leaders breakfast on 3rd September in Serena Hotel, organized by The office of The President's Women and Children's Rights under the leadership of Hon. Harriet Chiggai
The dinner event will be held in Nairobi and it's expected to bring together leaders, stakeholders in education sector and community champions with an aim of consolidating resources for equipping Nkaimurunya Primary school with modern digital infrastructure, e-learning tools and innovation hubs for young learners.
While talking to Bunge times Dr Bella stated that the smart library will not only provide access to books but also integrate digital learning platforms, coding stations and internet-enabled study spaces, making it a first-of-its-kind innovation center in the region.
“We are passionate about one child one computer one school a move that will bridge the digital divide. This library will empower our pupils especially girls with the correct tools to thrive in today’s tech-driven world,” said Dr Bella Namango Women in Tech Africa coordinator.
The partnership between rotary club Karen and women in Tech is a milestone of efforts made on the controversial new curriculum that requires learner to be computer literate unlike a while ago when comp savvy was a necessity during job interviews and work spaces.
Leaders drawn from the larger Kajiado County have welcomed the initiative noting that it will significantly reduce barriers to information access while inspiring innovation among the youth.
Construction of the smart library is in its final stages, with the dinner at JW Marriott Hotel ,is expected to secure the remaining funds needed to operationalize the facility before the end of the year.
