Principal Secretary Irrigation Ephantus Kimotho Tipped to Defeat Popular Kajiado North MP in Upcoming 2027 Elections
The Principal Secretary PS Kimotho is emerging as a formidable contender in the upcoming 2027 parliamentary race for Kajiado North with political analysts and insiders tipping that his likely to unseat the current Member of Parliament MP Hon Ngogoyo, despite his popularity and strong grassroots support.
PS Kimotho, whose reputation for inclusivity, integrity and a track record of effective service delivery has earned him widespread recognition across the constituency, is reportedly gaining ground among voters disillusioned by the incumbent’s leadership.
The sitting MP, who has held the seat for one term, remains a household name and commands loyalty in several wards. However, growing public frustration over unmet development promises, allegations of tribalism and favoritism has created an opening for new leadership.
In contrast, the PS has used his administrative role to connect with all communities living in KajiadoNorth, spearheading key initiatives in health, water access, and youth empowerment, and building a network of local opinion leaders. His frequent engagements with residents — even while in office — have painted Ps Kimotho as a servant-leader who understands local challenges.
Political commentator Mr Melita said the race is likely to be one of the most hotly contested in the region. “This is not just about popularity anymore, the electorate are becoming more issue-based, and the Principal Secretary has positioned himself as a results-oriented technocrat who could brings a new development approach.”Stated Mr Melita
Though the MP’s team has dismissed the PS’s candidacy as premature, insiders within both camps admit privately that the race is tightening, with youth and women’s groups increasingly aligning with the PS.
With the official campaign period still months away, both aspirants are expected to intensify their outreach efforts. Analysts say that unless the MP addresses rising concerns within his base, the PS may just ride the wave of public appetite for change all the way to the ballot box.
The battle for the seat is shaping up not just as a test of popularity, but a referendum on leadership and performance.
