Hon Mositet Korinko , an engineer ,a development economist and 2027 Kajiado county governor gubernatorial hopeful, has
been named as a lead advisor in the newly constituted National Economic
Empowerment Taskforce. The team is tasked with rolling out the “community first”—
a multi-billion-shilling initiative meant to uplift small businesses, youth
enterprises, and vulnerable households through direct cash injections and
subsidized credit lines.
Former senator’s involvement into the project has drawn
mixed reactions from political leaders, civil society groups, and economic
analysts. Supporters argue that his deep understanding of community-based
development in arid regions and his academic credentials make him uniquely
suited for the role.
“This program is not just about giving money — it's about
building sustainable economic ecosystems in neglected regions, Our goal is to
shift away from dependency and toward dignified self-sufficiency. “said Hon
Mositet
Launched few months ago by the Office of the Deputy
President under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, the drive has
already disbursed huge chunks of money across counties.
Several leaders including those from opposition have
expressed skepticism some castigating this new approach that seem to capture
the attention to those on the ground.
Eng Peter Mositet elevation has reignited speculation about
his 2027 gubernatorial ambitions. While he has not officially declared his bid,
his growing national profile and increased visibility in government programs
have sparked chatter among local leaders.
As the empowerment program rolls out nationwide, all eyes
will remain on Hon Mositet and whether his envelopment on the campaign program
delivers tangible impact—or deepens existing divides.
